2023 World Wide Technology Championship Predictions

The PGA Tour is back with World Wide Technology championship at Mexico the first PGA tour event at Tiger Woods-designed course.

EL Cardonal course was created by Tiger Woods and it opened in 2014 as Tiger’s first design and now for the first time the course is being used by the PGA Tour. The course is 7,452-yard long and displays four par-3s and 5s along with 10 par-4s playing to a par-72. Woods favors the power hitters as the greens average 8,300 square feet, the fairways measure 60 yards wide on most holes and there is only one hole where water comes into play. There are two reachable par-4s, six more par-4s over 460 yards long and four very scorable par-5s. The predicted winning total is 23.5 under par. The weather forecast is also good So the event will be a birdie show. $8.2 million is the total purse prize  and $1.476 million for first place. To reach the trophy on Sunday a player will need close to 27 or 28 sub-par scores.

Considering the size of the greens, short-game play won’t be a big Factor on scoring outside of the par-5s and reachable par-4s to get up and down for birdie.

Top 2023 World Wide Technology Championship predictions

Winner prediction: Beau Hossler

World Wide Technology Championship Pick

On PGA tour there is a precedence the winner must knock on the door before getting the win in last one or two tournaments. Since the field this week is not much staked at world wide technology championship and Beau Hossler has been knocking in his last two starts, Beau Hossler has finished seventh at Shriners Children’s Open and second at ZOZO championship. In four starts this fall, he has not finished outside the top 30. Since he has turned pro in 2016. He has plenty of experience to capitalize for his first PGA tour win.

Players to finish runner UP

Ludvig Aberg : He is in great form in His last four starts. He won Omega European Masters and then finished T10 in BMW Championship, T2 Sanderson Farms Cahmpionship and finished T13 in Shriners Children’s Open. I think he has been knocking on doors for his first PGA tour win but he lacks experience on PGA tour to finish off with a win.

Dark Horse for Championship

Cameroon Champ: He is power hitter of the ball with excellent ball speed. This course is designed by Tiger Woods Favoring the Long hitters of the ball with 4 par 5’s and 10 Par 4’s along with wide Fairways make short game least factor to bother about in championship. The greens are wide so he will need to putt accurately to win.

These are my top picks other notables Players to watch will be Sahith Theegala and Lucas Glover who can give surprise this week with their finish.

Sahith recently registered his first PGA tour win at FORTINET Championship but his finish at Zozo Championship was poor he finished T19.

Lucas Glover has recently gained his lost form this year and he has been very consistent with this game. Glover lost his form after his last major win and he was out of winner circle for a long time. After changing his putting technique he has found his mojo and he won the Wyndham Championship and FedEx St. Jude Championship in back-to-back weeks.

We cannot wait to see the Tour take on Tiger’s vision. I know it is his first design, but the players’ ability to score and game plan around his course will help Woods evolve as an architect. We have a fun field with only five players in the top 50 OWGR. So i hope some new players can get a chance to register their first win on PGA tour.
