Saints injury Updates: Derek Carr is in concussion protocol; Michael Thomas’s and Marshon Lattimore’s injuries are both “fairly significant.”

Before their bye week, the New Orleans Saints received both positive and negative injury news.

Saints QB

Derek Carr, the quarterback, is still in the concussion protocol, according to head coach Dennis Allen, but everything looks well with his right shoulder.

After suffering a devastating hit in the third quarter of Sunday’s game in Minnesota, Carr left the game. QB Jameis Winston came on and played the whole 27-19 loss. Following the defeat, Allen declared that Carr will continue to start if healthy.

Carr did not miss a game despite sustaining a shoulder injury in Week 3. It looks like he escaped serious harm once more. Carr will get a week off to complete the concussion protocol before the Saints play the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12.

According to Allen, Cornerback Marshon Lattimore who got ankle injury and WR Michael Thomas who suffered knee injury both sustained “fairly significant injuries” on Sunday. Although the coach stated that he does not believe the injuries will end their season, both players are seeking second opinions and will continue to recover during the bye week.

Lattimore is regarded as week-to-week with a high ankle sprain, according to a source who spoke with NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1724233623547654314?s=20

Entering their bye week, the Saints lead the NFC South with a 5-5 record.
