CELTICS Roll OVER KINGS 144-119, PULLING BACK FROM A HARD LOSS

Jaylen brown dunk in Celtics vs Kings

The shorthanded Boston Celtics defeated the Sacramento Kings 144-119 on Wednesday night, led by 28-point performances from Derrick White and Jaylen Brown. The team had just lost to Golden State the previous before.

In addition to playing without star player Jayson Tatum (ankle) and big man Al Horford (rest) against the rested Kings, Boston lost to the Warriors in overtime on Tuesday night after blowing a 17-point lead.

However, the Celtics appeared to be a much fresher squad and won their sixth game out 7 games played.

With 24 points, nine rebounds, and six blocked shots, Kristaps Porzingis, who was sidelined for the game against Golden State due to a calf injury, dominated the paint for Boston. Kristaps Porzingis tonight became the 3rd player in Celtics history to log at least 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 blocks in a game.

Porzingis led the game in blocks and made six blocks while guarding the rim, making a significant impact on the outcome of the game. The Boston Celtics outrebounded the Sacramento Kings by a significant margin, with 50 rebounds to the Kings’ 37. The Boston line-up was far larger than the kings’ which helped them in the paint.

Kings only scored 40 points in the paint, while the Celtics scored 48.

The fast break points were the stat that surprised me the most. With guys like De’Aaron Fox, the Kings could only muster six points, while the Celtics outscored them with 30 points.

The rest was up to White’s shooting crew, as the Celtics made 22 of 42 3-pointers in their defeat to the Warriors despite missing 41 of 58 long-range tries.

The 26-year-old De’Aaron Fox led the Kings, who had won three straight, with 29 points.

The clubs started the game quickly, with the Kings scoring 11 3-pointers in the first quarter and the Celtics responding with eight to tie a 2019 Mavericks-Warriors game for the most total 3-pointers ever made in a quarter. After 1st quarter, Sacramento led 41–38.

The Celtics, however, began to gain momentum when the 3s shot were not going for the Kings. 28 of their first-half three-pointers tied the NBA record for a half set in similar 2019 game, and they added six more in the second quarter.

After Porzingis’s jumper was blocked, White and Jrue Holiday made consecutive 3-pointers to give Boston a 21-point advantage in the third quarter. Jrue holiday passed the ball very efficiently today and lead the game with 10 assists.

The Boston lead reached 28 points in the latter part of the third quarter thanks to a dunk by Brown over Trey Lyles. From that point on, the Celtics didn’t looked back and defeated the Kings for the fifth time in a row.

The Celtics have been hitting free throws really effectively lately, they lead the Kings with 83% of their shots made from the line compared to 52% for the Kings.

Jaylen Brown achieved another milestone in this match, with his 9th point tonight, Jaylen Brown became the 16th Celtic to reach 9,000 career points.  https://x.com/celtics_stats/status/1737686892819144853?s=20

When Coach Joe Mazuzulla asked about mindset from comeback from previous night loss.

This year has been really long and having the right viewpoint is essential. Obviously, a loss will not make us happy. One of the best things about finishing 82 games is that you can move on the following day.

Coach Joe Mazzulla went further into details and described key winning point against kings as:

” They only has six points in transition that is a Key against this team”

Joe Mazulla praised Derrick White and said “He is All star”. We go to Derrick white for pick and rolls and he executes really well.

“That was a classic butt kick,” Mike Brown, the coach of the Kings, remarked. “The Celtics deserve a lot of credit, particularly playing their back-to-back games . They most definitely didn’t resemble the group that was here waiting for us.
