Trayce Jackson-Davis Shines In Warriors OT Thriller Win Against Celtics
by Colton Harrison on December 20th
The Warriors received their third straight win Tuesday night against the Celtics with the score of 132-126.
Stephen Curry was once again clutch in his performance, he delivered right in clutch moments throughout his career. Curry lead from the front with 33 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds. He once again made highlight reel with his clutch three.
In third quarter Jaylen Brown trash talked with Curry by making gestures of ‘too small’ in 3rd quarter when he scored a bucket with a foul on Curry.
Curry responded with the big clutch time points in 4th quarter and the match went into over time. In over time with 16 seconds remaining Stephen Curry unleashed a high-arcing 3-pointer, much like the ones he practices often throughout his lengthy pre-game routine.
Tracye Jackson-Davis, a rookie, described it as “a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.”

White scored 30 points, while Brown finished with 28. This was Boston’s second defeat in the previous ten games (20-6).
Warriors record sits at (13-14) which is not where most Warriors fans envisioned them sitting at this part of the season. Most Warriors losses come from not executing the fundamentals of basketball. Turnovers, unnecessary fouls, missing easy shots, and the lack of play making. Many fans are aware of the Draymond Green indefinite suspension, and with that comes the lack of energy that is vital for the Warriors to thrive. The Warriors needed someone to step up and give them contagious energy, make plays for Steph and Klay, make buckets, and play solid-efficient defense.
Rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis did all of that last night. He ended the night with 10 PTS, 13 REB (team high), and 3 BLK (team high.) This was his first career double-double. Trayce played 29 minutes last night. That was the most minutes he has played thus far in his NBA career. Adding to that, this was his most dominant performance thus far in his young NBA career.
Looking back at previous games, there seems to be an upward trend in minutes played. This is a result of the upward trend in game stats. After last night’s performance, expect Trayce to play even more minutes.
In his post-game press conference Warriors coach Steve Kerr stated, “he is going to play, he is going to be in the lineup.”

After his big performance last night, Trayce gained a lot of support on social media. Some fans were just happy of the energy he brought to the team, but some fans were calling for Steve Kerr to start Trayce over Kevon Looney. Some fans were calling Trayce Jackson-Davis a better playmaker, shooter, and defensive player than Kevon Looney. While many would argue those takes, it seems as if Trayce is playing at a higher level than Kevon Looney. It also seems as if he flows better with the offense.
When it comes to Trayce starting over Kevon Looney, it is something Warriors fans should keep an eye on. While it is not likely that he will start over looney, it could change per game.
OPINION: Trayce Jackson-Davis should not start over Kevon Looney. Getting the obvious out of the way, Looney is more experienced, he knows what it takes to get his teammates looks, and he is very well developed. Sure, Looney is not playing the game of basketball very well constantly right now. On the other hand, that will change. Looney has had these issues during his NBA career before, but he has always turned around. It just takes time. Trayce Jackson-Davis should get minutes because he is an energy creator.
Trayce will continue improving his game, and that is exactly what Steve Kerr wants him to do. If he can come off the bench for the Warriors, play hard, make plays, and create energy, the Warriors will have a bright rest of the season.
