The Boston Celtics cemented their place in NBA history on Monday night, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals to secure their 18th championship title. As i predicted before the series Boston will win in 6, they even closed the series after 5 games. The series ended 4-1 in favor of Boston, marking a dominant return to the top of the league after a 12-year drought. This victory breaks a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most championships in NBA history, solidifying the Celtics’ legacy as one of the league’s most successful franchises.

Celtics Take Control Early:

From the opening tip-off, the Celtics established their dominance. Wearing their classic green uniforms for the first time in the Finals, they channeled the spirit of their storied franchise. A strong defensive effort, coupled with efficient shooting, put Dallas on the back foot early. The Celtics closed the first quarter on a 9-0 run and never looked back, leading by as many as 21 points in the second half.

Brown Earns Finals MVP Honors:

Jaylen Brown, a cornerstone of the Celtics’ young core, emerged as the Finals MVP. He delivered a dominant performance throughout the series, culminating in a well-rounded effort in Game 5 with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. His scoring prowess and ability to create plays for his teammates proved invaluable for the Celtics. Jayson Tatum, his co-star, was equally impressive, finishing Game 5 with 31 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds. Their dynamic duo proved unstoppable throughout the series.

Kristaps Porzingis was available for the game 5 and he played 16 minutes however his confidence on his body was not high and mavericks scored lot of points against him. He was struggling to be 100% fit.  He scored only 5 points and 1 rebound. Al Horford played huge role in protecting the rim against mavericks.

Jrue Holiday defence was elite and played a pivotal  role is containing mavericks offence. Just in off season i predicted he was the missing piece that Celtics was in search to win the championship. He added depth to their defence with his performance throughout the season. Jrue Holiday scored 15 PTS, 11 REB & 4 AST in game 5.

Mavericks Struggle on Offense:

The Mavericks’ offense, which had propelled them through the playoffs, sputtered in Game 5. Luka Doncic, their offensive engine, was held to just 28 points on inefficient shooting. he was poor from 3 point line he made only 2 3 points from 9 attempts.

Key Performances from Both Sides:

Despite the lopsided scoreline, there were noteworthy performances on both sides. Derrick White provided valuable energy for the Celtics, chipping in 13 points off the bench. Al Horford anchored the defense with his veteran presence, recording 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Payton Pritchard once again gave a highlight reel buzzer beater from half court which got viral on all over internet.

For the Mavericks, Josh Green showed some spark from 3 point line with 4 three points made and 14 points scored. Kyrie Irving showcased his fighting spirit with 15 points & 9 assists, but it was ultimately not enough to overcome the Celtics’ defensive pressure.
